We came to Monteverde to experience the cloud forest with its beautiful nature. We went to the park early in the morning by local bus. We were shown a route we could walk on our own at the reception. We hiked around some hours calmly,...More

Probably, for many people like us, the main purpose of staying for in Monteverde is visiting this preserve. But it was disappointing. We went there in the morning with a guide. Our guide focused on showing us a quetzal..... We waited for a male quetzal...More

If you like flora and fauna and enjoy hiking certainly do it. The town is great and like I wrote in title, it's a breath of fresh air from the heat or lower altitudes.

We visited right when it opened on a week day in August. It wasn’t busy, it wasn’t raining and we walked through many of the trails. We didn’t use a guide and didn’t see any animals or exotic birds. We did see butterflies and lots...More

We did a night tour with a Reserve guide! We had a good time seeing a sloth, snake, several birds and some good stories from our guide. Worth a trip!

At 20$ admission it is quite expensive. Fortunately no rain that morning, so it was a nice walk in the forest. No quetzales, though!

We enjoyed our hikes here. The trails are well-maintained. The waterfall was nice and the overlook at the continental divide was memorable. We couldn't see much, but the wind and mist were neat to experience. There is one hanging bridge which was enough for me....More

We stayed in La Casola, the hostel on site. It had some nice benefits including access to the limited parking right at the station. It was nearly deserted at night but there is 24/7 security on site. We were the only ones staying at the...More

Amazing trek including seeing hummingbirds and butterflies as extras. You definitely need a guide to benefit fully. Eight bridges that sway (and they are moving a lot at times). The Tarzan bridge is the longest but the views are breathtaking. All the information in the...More

I saw taxis all around when we were there and the staff is extremely helpful. I think you’d be able to request them to call one for you if you needed it. We actually have a French couple a ride into Santa Elena because they... More
