We started doing SUP lessons and tours in 2010 in the fishing village of Mal Pais, teaching clients the importat basic fundamentals of SUP, and paddling clients into the Cabo Blanco Reserve. The business has grown quickly in the last couple years, and has now expanded into SUP rentals, clinics for all levels even SUP surfing and SUP racing , SUP adventure tours around the Nicoya Peninsula. We are passionate and true lovers of the sport of SUP and take teaching the sport very seriously. Edith competes on the Costa Rican National SUP Race Circuit, and has clinched the National Womens Champion three years in a row, in both long distance and short distance. Edith has also won two Central American Race titles , and competed in two World Championships. Contact Freedom Riding if you would like to schedule a class, tour or rental for your next vacation.

We had a phenomenal experience with Freedom Riding Paddle Board tours last week. We met Andy at the Mal Pais fishing village where he took extra time making sure a few members of our group with no experience get comfortable with the equipment and the basics. Once we were on the water, his true passion was exposed. Not only was the scenery second to none but the insight to the area and the tips to riding out in the ocean were awesome. I highly recommend if you are in Mal Pais or Santa Teresa you spend a few hours on the water with Andy. You won’t regret it!!

My whole family rented SUPs for a few hours during the afternoon and had a blast. They brought up to a sort of lagoon where the waves were pretty calm and not too difficult for the beginners among us

Did the intro to SUP surfing. Edith was great! She was incredibly patient with my total inability to stay on my board. Could not have had more fun.

My wife and I had a morning SUP lesson with Andy. It was a first for both of us and Andy was a fantastic teacher. He coordinated with us for optimal conditions, was patient, informative and completely engaging. He and his wife run the best SUP outfit around. I can’t recommend SUP Freedom Riders enough. Thanks, Andy!

I spent a week in Santa Teresa and Mal Pais, and happened upon Freedom Riding SUP. The SUP lessons and guided tour into the waters of Cabuya Park was amazing. Whales and turtles were in the area this time of year and swam right by us! How sweet is that! When we got back to their store I got some great tips and lessons about SUP and Surf board designs by Andy, Edith's husband. Andy is a true professional, surfer and board shaper and lessons I got about board designs for the right wave types were invaluable - I ended up renting one of his boards for the week. It was such a super sweet ride, light as feather but between the well designed shape and materials it still carry my weight well in the waves. Andy I'll be back soon to scoop up one of those sweet boards of yours! Cheers!
