This is Where to See Some Wildlife

Although the canal is not pristine, and the boats a bit "rough around the edges", we were delighted at the number of animals we saw. Our guide and boat operator treated us to... read more

Having visited the rainforest during the morning on our return to the ship we stopped for a more brief excursion on the canal. In practise the canal ran parallel and adjacent to the road over a significant length of the somewhat brief excursion, and with areas being demolished or vacated associated with a new port construction, lacked visual appeal. Our... More

The boat we were in had no seats, and sat on the sides of the boat on cushions. Interesting thing is that this was the only boat we saw that had no seats. It was an uncomfortable trip.

This was a pleasant experience but not the best. You board a small boat that holds up to 30? passengers and thankfully is open air but covered. I thought we were going an hour or so down the canal to see monkeys, sloths, birds but I would have to say that maybe we went about 10 minutes in 2 different... More

Although the canal is not pristine, and the boats a bit "rough around the edges", we were delighted at the number of animals we saw. Our guide and boat operator treated us to howler monkeys, two and three-toed sloths, a crocodile, cayman, crabs and a number of birds.Be prepared, this location is not in a remote rainforest, but, at the... We did a cruise on the canals as part of a day excursion from a cruise ship berthed at Puerto Limon. The canals are a bit dirty, but we saw lots of wildlife - many sloths, monkeys, all sorts of birds. Worth doing and we enjoyed it. The shop where the boats moor has food, drink and souvenirs, and takes... More

The canals are a bit dirty and it's a boat ride. For us our guide was terrific which made it more of an experience because he found the wildlife for us and made sure we saw it. His English was a bit weak but we made it through. Interesting but I was thankful we had booked other things to do... More

Well worth visiting and not at all crowded or touristy. Plenty of wildlife to see along these natural waterways. We went with Portlimon tours and they were excellent and looked after us well.

Would highly recommend this trip. The guide was very knowledgeable and pointed out the animals that we would have otherwise missed as they are so well camouflaged

This was half of an excursion we did from our cruise (the other half was to the Rainforest) and we were happy it was. We unfortunately didn't get to see a terrible lot of wildlife but just riding the boat through the canals and being in the jungle was an experience in itself. The fresh fruit they provided at the... This was offered by the cruise line Pullmantur, don't waste your money!! The guide was excellent, but the tour was disappointing. Train ride lasted maybe 20 mins and the boat ride was the same. Felt like we where rushed as the guide had a other group to go out and wanted to return quickly. Total time on this excursión was... More
