At the beginning we didn't want to hire a guide to visit Cahuita regional park. But we met Ludrick from Green Cahuita and he showed us we didn't see a lot of animals from the beginning of our visit. So we came back with him to the start of the visit and saw turtles, iguanas, monkeys, racoons and so on. So many different species that we would have missed without him. We recommend Green Cahuita at 10000%, they are very nice, respectful of the environment and locals so they have a very good understanding and knowledge of this area ! Moreover if you have a great sense of humor you will have a great time with Ludrick ;) He also helped us when my girlfriend went sick so he is the perfect example of the Pura Vida way of style, very kind and smooth. We recommend him and his team to anyone who come by the region ! Pura Vida

I was reluctant to hire a guide on a recent visit to the Puerto Viejo region as I’d been there before and knew I could hike the parks and rent kayaks independently. However, as an avid traveler and longtime study abroad leader, I understand the value of having a local expert share their love, enthusiasm, and knowledge of their own “backyard”. Our group of four used Green Cahuita for two half-day tours and it was absolutely (!!) worth it. The first was a kayak trip through the mangroves near Punta Uva. Our guide, Ludrick McLoud, arranged everything and as we glided through the jungle, he not only gave us invaluable information but also made it fun by asking us questions and keeping it light. There’s no question he can make a trip for any age group a truly better and an unforgettable experience. One of our trip highlights! We requested Ludrick again on a tour of Cahuita National Park. If you can only do one of these activities...or you want to only splurge for one guided activity, DO THIS! It’s a very reasonable price and as he led us through the park trails he spotted animals all the other visitors were simply walking by. Without Ludrick, we would’ve missed out on so many things. We really wanted to get the most out of our time in the National Park, and there’s no question Ludrick’s expertise was the difference maker in our enjoyment of our 1.5-2 hours there. Whether you’re new to the region or a returning visitor, I cannot recommend Green Cahuita, and Ludrick enough! Costa Rica is amazing...and the Caribbean side so much more authentic than the more developed (read: touristy) Pacific side. Happy to answer any questions! Pura Vida!
