If you want a unique and local, well thought out but leisurely day, David is a fantastic guide! He created a custom experience for us since we were wanting to do it all. He found us at the port right on time and had secured great transportation for our group. He knows the people and all the local areas, fed us amazing fresh made empanadas for snacks, has a great knowledge of the animals and landscape, fed us his own cacao from his farm as we toured Cahuita Natl Park, stopped at a local fruit stand for papaya and mango, took us to an indigenous area where we saw the most delightful cacao house and the process they use, and then ended the day with a trip to a waterfall where it was just us and the locals. Pretty unbelievable day and David was always able to accommodate our desires and make helpful suggestions. Super guide - I would definitely recommend a tour if you want to feel off the beaten path but still have some amazing insight and experiences from an experienced guide.

I highly recommend any tour with David! We did the walk in the Cahuita nature reserve with him. He was very patient and took time to explain about all the plants and animals that we saw while walking from small insect to sloth, monkeys, reptiles and birds. It was great to learn from him, we will definitely come back for the snorkeling and the jungle tour in his farm! We are happy that we did not do this alone.

What a wonderful adventure! We did the combo tour with David, a snorkel and walk through Cahuita National Park. David is an amazing guide, friendly and very passionate about sharing his knowledge and love for Costa Rica's nature. We started out with a boat ride to Cahuita's reef, and had plenty of time to enjoy the healthy fish-filled coral, in two different locations. A giant pufferfish that David made sure to point out was a highlight. He made sure my inexperienced-snorkeler brother was comfortable in the water, and we both had the time of our lives. The fruit and chocolate platter was a welcome, tasty refreshment afterwards as well! From there, we started our wander back through the park. David was happy to teach us all about many plants and animals, answer our endless questions, and even encourage our extra-leisurely pace to stop and appreciate...everything ;) We certainly saw a wide variety of wildlife with David's expertise as well, many birds, reptiles, mammals, and insects. We would highly recommend David as a guide on your trip to the Cahuita area to anyone with a deep appreciation for nature.

I booked a snorkeling/hike tour with David but ended up only doing the hike since the water visibility was poor due to heavy rain the day before. David led us through a back path along the coast from the boat harbor to the national park and spotted a mama and baby sloth in a low tree before we even got to the park entrance! That was the main thing we were hoping to see and David found it 5 minutes into the tour!! Once we were at the national park David showed us iguanas, bats, monkeys, crabs, insects, birds, sloths and more. He let us use his binoculars and telescope to spot animals high up in the trees and he was friends with other guides who called us over when they spotted a coral snake. David shared a lot of knowledge about plants that are used medicinally and had us smell and even taste some. He cracked open a coconut for us to drink fresh coconut water and at the end of the tour he shared bananas and cacao from his own farm. Delicious! Without David’s guidance we would have seen very few animals and without his stories and interesting facts we would’ve probably been a bit bored if we walked through the national park by ourselves so I’m so glad we had him as our guide! He is very focused on conservation efforts in Costa Rica which is another big plus.
