Two types of tours to see sloths and learn all about this fascinating animal and its rainforest habitat. Sorry, no direct contact with sloths, for their well-being and yours.

2-hour "Buttercup Tour" requires no advance reservation; just arrive about 20 minutes before the top of the hour (8AM–2PM) to register.

4-hour "Insider's Tour" includes a light breakfast or lunch and goes into greater depth, seeing sloths in the nursery, for example. This longer tour is also limited to 6 guests for a more personal experience.

I didnt expect to be so interested in Sloths but our guide was passionate about them and it rubbed off on me. I felt like i was an expert by the end. Lovely to see the sloths so well looked after. But $30 dollars even given it is a good cause seemed pretty steep for what you actually get to... More

Our visit began with an hour overview of the sanctuary by Marco. He did a great job of teaching us about these interesting creatures and then telling us the background of the sloths that are caged there. Note that most sloths are returned to the wild but many cannot because of injuries. We then took a one hour canoe ride... More

After 45min drive with taxi from Porto Limon we arrived at the sloth sanctuary. Very friendly and well informed staff at the sanctuary. The tour includes 1 hour rainforest tour by kayak with professional guide (thanks Jose!), followed by a visit to the sloth sanctuary and nursing room. All very impressive and they really need our future support to keep... More

I cannot recommend the sanctuary highly enough!!! Cali was a great canoe trip guide (we saw sloths and howler monkeys in their natural habitat on our journey) and Marco was very informative and entertaining during the tour of the permanent sloth residents. And of course, Buttercup!!! Such a wonderful experience.

We enjoyed our visit to see the sloths. The place was well organised and gave us interesting information on sloths. The tour guy was amusing and informative. It was great to see them close up and later out on the river in the local habitat. It was good to feel like the trip was contributing to keeping the sanctuary going... More

My six year old son begged for us to come here, so one afternoon we stopped in. The entrance fee is sort of pricey, but it is for a good cause which is to support the care and research of the sloths. The tour stats out with a fun boat ride through a little creek. My only recommendation would be... More

We did the two hour tour which included a canoe ride and an educational talk with the adult sloths and the baby sloths. I was a bit disappointed that the only sloths we saw were in metal cages and not in more a natural environment but most of them had disabilities so they probably couldn't cope living in a tree.... Had a great time visiting and meeting the sloths. The place was extremely clean and run by kind, passionate people with big hearts. Appreciated the hospitality and discussion/shared information very much!

Our family of 6 (including 3 kids: 14, 9 and 6 yrs old) took the Insider Tour and it was fantastic. The boat ride and the buttercup tour were very nice on their own but the extra hour to see the baby sloths in the baskets and incubators was PRICELESS. All of us (adults and kids) were in awe of... I had an absolutely great time touring the sloth sanctuary, meeting the oldest three toed sloth - buttercup was a particular delight. The guides were very knowledgeable about the sloths and I feel I learnt a lot. Thanks so much Judy and Co!
