Everyone was talking about great this was and we planned our day around it since it's only held on Thursdays. The pictures are incredibly deceiving! It was so crowded and I could barely move. The food and products being sold weren't anything unique, you can get them in town. Way too touristy! And yes, the other reports are true...you walk up this dirt road for about 1/2 mile. Seriously, not worth the trek!

The night market is open on Thursday evening. I was very crowded with mostly food, alcohol and jewelry options. We were hoping for more merchandise options.

Many stands and local artisans. I loved that variety. What I didn't like was, it does get quite crowded. If you go too early, everyone else had the same thought. If you go late, they are out of most things. It is truly worth the experience though. I would recommend going to the night market in Playa Grande.

A nice evening out to experience local goods and foods. Good variety but expensive. American money and Colones are accepted. Some vendors accept credit cards or debit.

Let me start by saying there are 2 markets. One on Saturday (during the day) and the other on Thursday (at night). Both are full of artisans, food and other cool handmade wares. The difference being while the day market is closer to downtown and much more open and spread out, the night market is much further away from the center and tight. So if you dont like crowds dont go Thursday! Both are unique and have more tourist than locals. If you are looking for great deals and get something really cheap- think again! These are local artisans trying to make a living off the amazing crafts they create. Despite these events are bi-weekly and Tamarindo seems to be farely in touch with the overall global society/ culture expectations, let alone many of the shops have the technology to take credit cards, these 2 events dont and you should really bring CASH. For what its worth, the vendors should offer the ability to take electronic payments and locate to a larger space where they can spread out and not be so cramped if there is such a space available. If you do go- enjoy!
