amazing wildlife / knowledgeable guide

Incredible wildlife -- great guide who knew all about the trees and plant uses, lots of monkeys, birds, etc. Go at 7am or it will be too hot!

Well organized adventure. We learned more about the Costa Rican environment on this hike than any other. The guide (Bernie) spotted birds, animals and insects that the rest of us didn't see. He was also full of info in each creature spotted. We saw numerous birds, bats, insects (several Blue Morphos),trees (we will now never buy teak wood from Costa... More

Great way to learn about local botany, birds and wildlife. Guide Bernie was very knowledgeable and made sure all abilities of hikers were helped. Beautiful views of Playa Samara from the summit. Worth the money if you have 4 hours. Best to do early am (630) on a hot day.

Booked this hike through Samara Adventure company and Berny was our guide. Did the morning hike and glad we did because it quickly became hot. It is a climb to the lookout but worth it as there are sweeping views of the ocean and surrounding area. Berny is excellent as he knows the area so well and has a great... More

Very knowledgeable guide however I thought the group was too large which made it difficult to have an opportunity to view through guides telescope as large group taking turns to view risked missing whatever was spotted.

We had a great morning hike with Berny, learned a lot about the trees and plants in the tropical dry forest. Also learned some tips to survive if ever lost in the jungle. Berny was very personable and his English was great! He had a great eye for spotting birds, we also saw lots of Howler monkeys. It's a good... More

I read about this hike on Trip Advisor and we also loved this experience. My name is Bernie so I enjoyed having Berny as our guide. Of course, Berny was amazing. He was also excellent at the explaining the many different plants in this ecosystem, a tropical dry forest. This private reserve was once a cattle farm and mango orchard... More
