Love playa Hermosa because it's not built up and commercialized!! Soft sand, beautiful ocean and view. Definitely go!

Live like a local. Very chill area but then again that applies to Costa Rica in general. Rent an airbnb and walk to the beach. Go jogging in the morning, grocery shopping in the afternoon or simply for a swim at the pool. In the evenings go away by the beach to enjoy the little restaurants with awesome food and... More

This was truly a beautiful beach, quiet and secluded. The sunset was spectacular The beach was clean and lots of trees for shade.

We stayed there 3 days, after moving to the north. I love the black sand beached, this is one of the best, it is a clean beach and very quiet. You can hear the macaws and admire them while sitting on the beach. If you plan to go there surfing, the waves are really big so it is a really... More

Wow! This the place for professionals. I beginner and it was too much for me. I could not swim over breaks, it was even funny because longer I swim closer to the beach I was. Once I have succeeded and quickly I have saw the environment up side down. Then I have decided to stay on the beach and enjoy... More

We visited in February 2017, which was the dry season. The dark sand does get hot, but you can scamper across hot dry sand to the wet sand. The wet sand is cooled by the sea (which was 82 degrees F). We walked the full length every day after meals, and every evening. The beach rarely had more than just... More

During the dry season it is very hot and the sand is too hot to walk on even in flipflops. The sand is very fine and a dirty brown color just making you dirty. It sticks to everything its so fine. I scalded my feet in flipslops because the sand filled up between my foot and the flipflop.

One of the best beaches we have ever visited. The sand is not Caribbean but it is still warm and smooth. Our beach days on this beach were the highlight of our trip. You can bring your own beer and just enjoy the day.
