This beach is beautiful with turquoise water and a treasure trove of pristine shells to be found on its sands. However, if you are not staying at the Westin, then accessing the beach is quite painful as you have to go through playa Brasilito which...More

Our wonderful suite at the Westin Resort was just steps away from this secluded beach. The sand is composed of crushed seashells. Even though it's a public beach, it wasn't crowded in January. Vendors do emerge on the scene in the morning, but we weren't...More

Playa Conchal is unique as the sand on most of the beach is made up of tiny shells. They do not hurt to walk on. The view from the beach is gorgeous. The beach itself is not huge but still nice. Keep in mind all...More

We stayed 7 nights at Westin Playa Conchal with Costco travel package and all-Inclusive. 1) Cannot go wrong with Costco. Peace of mind when booking with Costco. 2) The Bungalows were nice and comfortable. The food was good with 7 restaurants for dining and a...More

You don't have to stay at the Reserva Conchal to enjoy this beautiful beach. Drive around the square in Brasilito and follow the tracks along the beach. The best and safest parking is just over a steep hill that is filled with potholes but you...More

Beautiful and fun, we had a great time sight seeing, swimming, and taking photos. The mini shells were so cool.

This was the prettiest beach we've seen in Costa Rica so far! The water was a gorgeous turquoise blue and the beach is all shells!! I would recommend a good water shoe... our feet felt a little raw from the shells after a while. Great...More

WOW. Magical place. Take a 4-wheel drive, an ice box and some wine and just hang out. It's heavenly. And the restaurant you pass there and back called The Spot is FANTASTIC.

Playa Conchal is very picturesque. As some people have stated there are vendors as you walk/drive over a small hill from Playa Brasilito to Playa Conchal, but if you smile and say no gracias they will leave you alone. Walk down towards the bend in...More

Gustavo on the beach will take care of any of your excursions or activities! Support the locals! Horseback riding, ATVs, massages on the beach...I highly recommend it all!

Does anyone have experiance booking excursions through the Westin? How was the process and any recommendations for excursions that include waterfall hiking, hot springs, rafting etc. Something with a guide that can point out wildlife would be preferrable.

I found booking with any hotel or tourist office adds an extra, per person, 20 to 40 dollars to the cost of what can be arranged in person on location or via one of the beach venders.

Running on Playa Conchal isn't really an option becuase it is very sloped and the sea-shell sand makes it hard to move in. However about 100 ft back from the beach there is a dirt/ hard sand road that goes along the beach... More
