This is a wonderful beach for picnics, swimming and beach walks. Unfortunately it lacks basic facilities like toilets, garbage cans and a place to eat or drink. Many good spots to hang your hammock.

This is without question the very best beach anywhere. There are coconut trees all around the beach. NO BUSINESSES on the beach but picnic tables, the sand is white and the water slopes gently into the warn ocean. If you want to swim, have a picnic or run on the beach then this is the place. If you want to... More

Of the half dozen beaches in the Samara area, this was by far our favorite for swimming. As others have mentioned, there are numerous palm trees that provide shade as you'll need it in the hot CR sun. Be FOREWARNED that the sand from the tree line to the wet sand is VERY hot. You will need sandals to walk... More

This is by far my favourite beach that I have been on. White sand beaches, large waves to play in. I love the row of palm trees that provide shade, as we can't be in the hot Costa Rica sun for too long. Bring a picnic and a hammock and enjoy your day! It doesn't get any better! Wear water... More

We've been going in the mornings before the major heat of the day. Bring a hammock and hang in the shade- the beach stays mostly quiet because people are set up in the line of Palm trees.

We went for sunset and there was hardly anyone there. No hawkers selling you knick knacks either. Just a beautiful long stretch of beautiful beach and waves. Waves for miles... Makes amazing panoramic pictorial. One of the nicest beaches I've ever been to.

Clean sand, gorgeous palm-lined beach with benches and tables. Some of the best snorkeling I've found in CR on the far left side along the rocks, where the boats sail from. Also was told there's good snorkeling along the far right side along the rocks. There's a great sunset viewing spot as you drive up the hill on the left... More

We drove to Carrillo from Samara, about 10 minutes to visit the beach. Although this place may get busy on weekends, it was almost deserted on this Monday afternoon. It is a beautiful bay and there are picnic tables all along the road. There are no restaurants or any businesses along the beach road so bring what you need.

A gorgeous little beach we saw on the way to somewhere else. A lot of locals seemed to be using it. It was so pretty and peaceful I could have packed a cooler and stayed there all day.

If you want to get to know the Ticos more come to this beach. They come here on the weekends and picnic under the palms that line the beach. There's a coconut drink lady who will cut you open a fresh coconut drink (how she doesn't cut her hand off with that machete, I'll never know). Bring you own picnic... More
