AWESOME! Tight spaces, lots of bats and spiders :)

I loved everything about going with Ecoterra on this cave excursion! The cave itself was beautiful both inside and out. I would NOT recommend going through this cave if you have a fear of small, tight spaces, because in order to get to some of the coolest places in the cave, you have to crawl and squeeze through some seriously... Our guide, Victor, was excellent, but don't expect many formations. The cave tour is an obstacle course with several tight squeezes and crawls. In March the water level was below waist-high throughout for an average adult. Kids will enjoy. We thought the highlight was some wildlife which included bats, a large cave spider, a crab, and fish. There are a... More

The caves were an adventure to get to but so worth it! The caves were amazing, our tour guide Victor even more so. Awesome animals and a good challenge to get through. I would recommend this to anyone who is not afraid of getting wet, dirty and into small spaces!

This was a last minute add to our itinerary in Costa Rica. We did have a challenge finding the caves because there are no signs. But the locals in the town Venado were very happy to help us. We were the only ones on our tour (2 of us) and it was great. Jhony was our guide and he was... More

This was a great experience- the guest was wonderful and provided a personalized experience. Our group was only three people including my husband and I! And our guide was very helpful and knowledgeable. Most of this Caving experience is pretty mellow once you get the hang of walking on the slippery footing (water shoes necessary). But, some spaces where quite... More

This was quite difficult to find. It is a few minutes away from the town of Venado and we opted to try a shortcut and not use the main highway. (Side roads are a mistake due to very poor road conditions) Once at Venado Caves, the staff are very helpful and supply helmets, rubber boots and headlamps for the trek.... More

We drove to the caves from Tiliran on lake Arenal-- took us about 90 minutes but was so worth it. Our guide Henry was great - knowledgeable, patient with our limited Spanish, and attentive to our abilities. The caves were spectacular- we kept saying we'd never be able to get this kind of a tour in the states...too many liabilities,... More

We had someone come and pick us up from our hotel, and drop us off after visiting the caves. They provided a little melon snack with water after the tour. It was a good price, and got the professional photos taken and a CD with the photos for 25$. Some of the photos were over exposed. During dry season, you... More

We had a great time doing this! We have caves where we are but you can't touch anything and it's all concrete walkways. This was completely different. I love crawling through the water and climbing in the caves. Highly recommend this but definitely take a change of clothes and don't wear anything you care too much about!

Venado caverns are a fun and exciting distraction from hiking the Costa Rican rainforest surrounding the Arenal volcano. Of course you are going to get wet and you can't be too squeamish about tight spaces. One of the highlights of my entire trip was getting to see a Glass Treefrog near the mouth of Venado caves. I have seen treefrogs... More
