You will get wet and dirty but that’s the fun. Crawling through small spaces, wild bat and tarantulas that don’t bother you. Super fun if you’re adventurous. Highly recommended.

We are so glad we took this tour! The caves are a stunning natural wonder. We had a guide to ourselves who was willing to move at our pace. Our guide Ruben was fun, knowledgeable, and really made the trip enjoyable. The water was never more than knee-high, and we were able to navigate the caves without much difficulty. We are also glad we purchased the pictures, which turned out excellent. Would highly recommend!…

So...I tried to post this the day of our visit ...but technical difficulties were there.... then the damned coronavirus rocked the world and ...well just getting around to this now — in the event anyone ever goes on vacation again...ever..... During a recent trip to CR. We found the Cavernas de Venado. We were staying in La Fortuna and had a car so took the 45 minute ride and it was totally worth it. At this time of year we were able to experience the entire length of the caves, including the most challenging of areas! Saw many creatures, but if you are afraid of spiders it may not be the place for you. Our guide, Victor, was knowledgable and friendly. Water shoes are a must, but they do provide boots in the event you do not have them with you. The photographer is mandatory in my opinion! Worth the $$. The photos were sent to us before we were even out of the caves and were perfect! The WAZE app got us there without issue .... but the way back to Fortuna....well...all I can say is if it takes you down an unpaved road, turn around! While it definitely was some incredible scenery, not too good on the rental 🤨. But we made it back to civilization without a flat ... so ....alls was good in Costa Rica!!…

I really enjoyed the overall experience, but I was wrongly placed in a group with a Spanish-speaking guide. This had a big impact on my ability to understand and to ask questions. Plus there was a safety factor, since there were some difficult areas for a 71 year-old, short woman to navigate, and I sat them out because I couldn't get enough clarification of the risks involved. You're walking through mid-calf water over a rocky bottom. If I hadn't brought my hiking stick I would have fallen many times. No problems though for the 40 year-old father and 10 year-old son that I was grouped with. Also, the tour info I had from Costa Rica Vacations said to bring your camera, but the tour guide told me to leave it in the car, so I didn't get the pictures I wanted. The tour guide took many pictures and shared them, but they weren't necessarily the pictures that I wanted.…

Fun, challenging experience. The guides know how to tailor your tour to the group's ability level, so there is climbing, crawling, and squeezing that will push you, but ultimately leave you feeling exhilarated. DON'T take a phone or camera unless you have something waterproof to put it in. DO bring lace-up water shoes and a change of clothes--we were crawling on elbows and knees through tunnels half-full of water Overall a recommendable experience: I came out with scrapes, bruises, and great memories!…
