Wonderful experience, especially be led by Nick Fucci. See his website. He knows where the great views are located.

The Savegre Mountain Hotel was a joy to visit. The grounds were beautifully tended with exotic plants and full of gorgeous hummingbirds. The Cabana we had was the newest but a climb up to the top of the property. It had a lot of charm. The food was diverse and plentiful and healthy. The servers were 5 star, meeting your... More

Great place, beautiful grounds, great opportunities for birding. Marino was our guide and he helped us find the Quetzals and other birds that were on the grounds . The restaurant and bar was very nice, great food and service...

You can hike the trails in the reserve (all of which are uphill, sometimes steep), but I recommend going with Melvin Fernandez. He knows his birds and natural history and you'll get more out of your visit. Plus, he'll take you up the hill in his outfitted truck, so you don't have to wear yourself out hiking uphill.

Great place with quiet trails to escape the crowds. A distinctive cloud forest with dripping vegetation and rolling clouds creating quite an atmosphere. Climbs can be a little steep, but paths are well maintained.

Lots of hummingbirds and two Quetzals, lots more besides. Remote location. 2-3 hours from San Jose. Good facilities (accomodation) nearby

The abundance of birds is unfathomable. If you love birds, this reserve is a must on your bird watching list.

I'm not sure what all the reserves we went through, near Dantica...I think we wandered in and out of several, though I did not keep track. What I do know is that every country, including my own USA should be building up more and more nature reserves for a multitude of reasons!! Go, Costa Rica!!!!

This is a beautiful forest and in one morning we saw 40 bird species (good in this difficult habitat). The list included emerald toucanet, spangle-cheeked tanager and collared trogon.
