Child-sized equipment is also available. Nearly all of the tour takes place on private lands, crossing through second generation forest and primary forest, as well as beautiful pastures, some of which were used for cattle, and, of course, visitors will see the magnificent Arenal Volcano that accompanies visitors throughout the trip.Departure: 8:30 am or 1:30 p.mDuration: 3 hoursIncludes: Transportation, guide, equipment, water.Suggested Equipment: Long pants, cool shirts, binoculars, cameras, sunscreen, and insect repellent.

My daughter and I had an amazing experience on this horseback riding tour! We were picked up at our hotel by Kendall, a very sweet young man, and taken to the stables for the 8:30 ride. One other young women joined us so there were only 3 altogether for this tour. Lucky us! Bernardo introduced himself and our horses and... More

The scenery on this adventure was stunning! It had rained that morning, so the terrain was extra challenging. Not being very familiar with horses, it was a bit scary going up (and down) the side of the volcano. My horse threw me off when the guide tried to line us up for a picture. Thankfully, I was not hurt, but... More

Our family of 6 from 12 and up plus one other couple took this tour. Our horses were fairly well behaved and showed their unique personalities as we worked our way up the hill to a view of Arenal Volcano and the valley below. Some experience riding is helpful as the terrain can be challenging in areas but the horses... More

We had a lovely ride for just our family of five. The terrain is pretty easy but steep in places. Sadly we picked a gloomy day so views were limited but that is just the luck of the drawer around here. All the horses were in good shape and very jolly. A nice stop halfway for coffee, home-made sweet tortillas... More

Not your standard horses in a like walk. We got to gallop and canter a lot. Very nice horses and beautiful views. Nice tour guide as well.

Was looking to get back on the horses after a 30 year hiatus. The stables are right across the street from Nayara Springs. They have two levels for rides, I opted for the beginning rider (which would qualify for intermediate based on the hills we climbed). We climbed the many hills which afforded us beautiful views in Arenal. Views of... More

We had a fantastic morning riding with Don Tobias stables. A prompt and speedy transfer to and from our hotel at Arenal Nayara. Obedient horses (which was important, because two of us had no or little riding experience), padded saddles and ponchos provided for the few occasions it raised. Bernal was an excellent guide as we moved up through fields... More

This was a beautiful ride. We were picked up from our resort on time in a clean, minivan and taken to the stable. The horses were saddled and ready to go. The horses were clean, groomed, and well behaved. The saddles were padded which I can say as a rider I appreciated for the members of my family not used... More

My brother and I had a great time at Don Tobias yesterday. Both with very little(or no!) riding experience, our horses were ideally suited, being very docile and obedient. We experienced differing terrain with some ups and downs, through streams and skirting the rainforest. We saw howler monkeys, a sloth, leaf cutter ants and more. We had a stop at... More

Excellent in every aspect. Kendall picked us up at hotel. Bernal was our guide. We rode pinto and warrior. Bernal was great. Not only did we ride to the volcano but we stopped a few times to see wildlife. Howler monkeys and birds. He took lots of photos for us. Walked through streams. Absolutely the best riding we've done in... More
