The animals are all rescued and kept in good conditions. It was a great way to spend the afternoon especially since the home we were staying in was close by. I wish I had a better shot of the sloth but will definitely have to...More

Takes around two hours to finish the whole park. The animals were all rescued and it was clear the money was going to a good cause, nice to fill in a day where you need something fun and low maintenance. Would recommend to families with...More

A wonderful bunch of people dedicated to rescuing abused animals and sending a message of the importance of protecting animal species and their habitat, a message of grave importance if for no other reason than the truth that the fate of other species is the...More

Costa Rican friends thought we might like this facility and they were right. They breed birds and other animals for release into the wild. With all the birds and animals being feed in the cages the area attracts birds to the grounds. We spent 2...More

Just about every animal native to Costa Rica resides in this facility... All of which came here originally as rescues. Some are being nursed back to health for eventual release. They also have breeding programs to preserve, release and restock wild populations. This is zoo...More

This is a small Zoo that has the local animals on display in a jungle like setting . The flora and fauna is outstanding and the nature sounds are authentic and not recorded. The pathways wind thru the park and it is easy walking and...More

The last time we visited Costa Rica we went to La Paz/Waterfall Nature Park. La Paz was excellent for both the parents and kids. But it was on the pricy side. But I will say it was worth it. Anyway back to the present and...More

Great for a 2 to 3 hour visit. The birds and animals are easily seen and beautiful, the paths are short, and the sounds are plentiful. The landscaping is delightful. The highlight was the peacocks just outside the restaurant. Be sure to eat at the...More

Zoo Ave is a good organization in that it provides a home for species that cannot be released back into the wild for various reasons. In addition, it breeds macaws for restoration, and it created a prosthetic beak for an abused toucan. That said, like...More

I did not see visitors with pets. This is likely because you will see Iguanas walk across the walkways in front of you. There are Peacocks freely walking in the Zoo and Macaws out not in cages.
