"Pudong, in its 13-year history, has surprisingly progressed in its economic strength and its urban development. This 556-sqaure-kilometer farmland 13 years ago is well on its way toward a modern metropolis. As the epitome of Shanghai' modernization and the symbol of China's reform and opening up drive, Pudong has become an ideal land for global investors." http://pudong.shanghaichina.org/jiangsx.htm

Took the ride under the river from the bund to Pudong. Gorgeous views of the monern buildings close up and beautiful panoramic of the 1900 era buildings of the Bund. And the ride in the tunnel was like a Disney ride.

Shanghai residents see Pudong’s suburbs as the place
that grown-ups retreat to when they’re ready to settle
down and stop living in the cramped confines of a
refurbished lanehouse. The areas around Century Park
are some of the most desirable as they are in close
proximity to the Metro Lines, granting easy access to
the heart of Puxi. The park itself is a huge draw,
it’s one of Shanghai’s biggest and there are sports
