That's not so wow zoo, as you may expect from such city as Shanghai. A bit far from center, but it has reasonable price of 40cny. The territory inside is a quiet place with funny and beautiful animals around. Ig has definitely less crowd than Bund, so you may walk here and rest. Zoo has 2 pandas and several red... More

The zoo is set in beautiful landscaped grounds which meant it was one of the least crowded areas I have visited in Shanghai ( it was a Tuesday during school term though). I just had to see a panda and want disappointed as there were 2! The Zoo seems to have mixed reviews, I found it to be on a... More

Shanghai Zoo, well thought we would give the Zoo a visit after mixed reviews. On a Sunday in October it was nice & quiet so it was a nice relaxing day. The entrance fee is very cheap for a zoo only 40rmb for an adult. Now this zoo does require a few things, more zoo keepers as even though the... More

We were in Shanghai with an evening as free. We thought to pay a visit to giant panda in Shanghai zoo. It was worth watching the animals in such a large zoo. I thoroughly enjoyed the visit

Living in Shanghai and currently having visitors who wanted to see some Pandas, we went to this zoo and it only made me remember why I prefer avoiding these places... I have to admit, there are some good things about this zoo of course: diversity of the animals, the space is huge, a lake for some of the birds &... More

We just couldn't leave China without seeing Giant pandas, so we made a brief visit to this zoo. It was a nice, quiet and pretty setting with lots of pandas. They are non-social so each was in its own enclosure and they seemed to have plenty of room for roaming. There was one absolutely adorable juvenile panda munching on bamboo... More

OK is very large, I got there 15 minutes before closing time and was still permitted in, most of the enclosures were open and I got to see about 60% with in 3 hours or so. They eventually kicked me out but would be a decent family trip

Another beautiful attraction in Chongqing - the zoo is immaculate and they are very intelligent they have different areas for the animals and they let them out one at a time, so people can see them up close and see them eat and interact with the others. The Pandas were so beautiful, the white and yellow tigers were also amazing.

Staying in Gubei / Hongqiao / Minhang

Neighbourhood Profile
Gubei / Hongqiao / Minhang
West of Shanghai’s better-known business, cultural and entertainment centers, lies an expansive area of residential neighborhoods peppered with lifestyle pockets that have their own unique attractions. The schools have formed pockets of international communities throughout Gubei, Hongqiao and Minhang. Quite a few entertainment and shopping centers have built up over the years to cater to these communities. While living here means you are relatively far away from Shanghai’s usual hot spots, the large parks, spacious homes and proximity to great Japanese and Korean food keep the neighborhoods popular.
