If you are in Shanghai for a short time, this is a great site to see. Typical sort of 'China' feel and area. Interesting buildings, bridge and garden area. Touristy but interesting.

We loved this area for the markets, buldings, food and buzz. Spent a lot of time in the shops and purchased some silk scarves and other trinkets. Had a meal here although it was a average, probably picked the wrong place.

The area around YUYUAN GARDEN. Lots of shops mostly selling souveniers and delicacies in an "ancient" CHINESE style buildings with hordes of tourists (local and foreign) milling around. Still worth going if you are in SHANGHAI.
