All depends wether you can appreciate newly constructed old imitation ... from a distance it looks impressive, a huge rock with a temple, in particular a giant Buddha head. But when you get closer you see windows in the rocks, after which you start to realise it actually is a modern building covered with fake rock slab of concrete. It... More

This is an unknown place in Shanghai, it is away from major attractions, but it is very interesting to visit this majestic building in the middle of a neighborhood of Chinese residents

A Chinese co-worker took me here while showing me some sights around his house, so this wasn't on my original Shanghai tourist itinerary. But it was a pretty interesting temple, and the giant (34 meter) Guan Yin statue was very impressive, and is surrounded by 9999 mini statues lining the walls. No photos of the inside are allowed unfortunately. However... More
