The day was long and busy, but at 10 pm when the work was done I felt the night was young and Shanghai open and friendly. I took a the metro to The Bund and sit myself at the bar of the Jazz Club @PeaceHotel. The whiskey sour was so good that I had to go for more than one... More

The Jazz Club is a throwback to Shanghai in the 1920's. The band and the singer I suspect were headliners back then and time has done nothing to improve their performances. The 200 yuan minimum will get you not quite two drinks. There were several women who danced -- one expertly one exuberantly -- both I suspect were paid by... More

Are you asking me to write about those legends? Please dont do it because i dont want to explain them into words..I still remember those peaceful faces of them and calm fingers playing pieces of seconds for their love on piano, drums, saxophone..... Wao i was there, heard them saw them... The music were floating all around that room as... More

Amanda Tang was very friendly, attentive and helpful while serving my table. She recommended the good drinks and unbelievable good foods. We were all very happy that day. I would come to the Jazz bar again for the same experience.

Thought of having a drink after a walk along Bund waterside promenade turned into a series of questions at the Bar door. "are you staying here ", "You will have to spend so & so" .. oh really? This hotel could have been so much nicer than it it now. It looks dated, stickup staff and guests make a nice... More

Stepping into the Jazz Club is like a walk bck into history. The musicians are all at least 70 years old ,two bands and clad in Dinner Jackets. The double bass that they play, could be of the same era! The olde worlde style of the bar adds to the ambiance which is wonderful. The band are good musicians and play a mixture... More

Probably one of the place you should go if you are looking for a fancy but authentic jazz evening ! The hotel itself is also a big piece of Art deco you do not want to miss !

Intimste club with amazing musicians that were 80or older, longest playing musicians around. Very clubby atmosphere, The older gents started playing at 7-9, when a younger, louder band took over. Great atmosphere and most enjoyable.

Staying in The Bund

Neighbourhood Profile
The Bund
While there are certainly many other “bunds” in the world, “the Bund” refers to Shanghai’s famous waterfront. The area’s Gothic, Art Deco and Beaux Arts monoliths were built when it was part of the Shanghai International Settlement run by the British and Americans. The atmosphere of colonial-era luxury has endured over time and is now found in the five-star hotels, luxury brand boutiques and expensive restaurants that can be found within the historic buildings. A cultural center has built up away from the water and some of Shanghai’s best art galleries and museums are housed close to the Bund. Nighttime views of Pudong and the rest of the city also make for a great backdrop at the many rooftop clubs.
