Modern jazz, good cocktails and pleasantly surprised that we were able to continue a conversation over the band! The double bass player was a celebrity in his own right, being 87 now and having played for the band since 1980. Cocktails are on the pricey...More

This beautiful old jazz club evokes a feeling of pre-revolutionary Shanghai. The ancient musicians play a hip mix of western and Chinese standards. As the night goes on a young lady joins them to add vocals

Very classic kind of atmosphere that is a walk back to Old Shanghai in the 1920s. The decor, band and songs made in so fun. Its first world prices though. I spent about 500rmb on a bottle of wine and enjoyed myself. Not unreasonable. Reserve...More

The Peace Hotel is an iconic institution. It is an amazing building which takes you back to another age. We visit the Jazz Club and as non-residents were asked to sit at the rear of the room which wasn't a problem as the view was...More

The old timers in the band (eldest in his 90's) entertained us with their swing and style from the 1930's. Sitting within the beautiful Art Deco hotel, we were transported back to a time depicted in movies and books of the decadent days of the...More

Americans. The atmosphere of colonial-era luxury has
endured over time and is now found in the five-star
