Hired a cab for 100 cny per hour for 8 hours (hotel arranged this and it was really a Buick G8 minivan) and traveled to Shanghai Wildlife Safari and Flower Port. A great day. Here are some inside tips on Flower Port -I went in April and believe that the spring is the best time to go, but understand that... More

It was a long ride from the city by train and a few minutes ride by bus. There is an entrance fee of 100 yuan. We were welcomed by the sweet smell of flowers as we entered the park.. Its a destination for all ages. The young to the not so young. There were school children and senior tour groups.... More

It's worth visiting flower port, even for the high entrance ticket (100¥). Visited on A sunny day, all colours of tulips were glorious! It's a challenge to remember all tulip shades !! A very well maintained garden, feels like garden brought from Holland! Artificial mountain water falls adds to the beauty.

A decent hour drive from the city, this is a must visit over the month it is open. Amazing landscape, lovely tulips in full bloom - this is a must-visit if you happen to be in the area during its brief period of operation. Pack a full picnic lunch, go in a big group and have a wonderful day out.

Getting there from downtown Shanghai was quite easy, take subway line 16 from Longyang Rd station to Dishui Lake (about 1hr journey) then connect with local bus no. 1078 which will take you right in front of the entrance/ticket office. I don't read nor speak Mandarin, but I think the bus operates only from 10:30 to 17:30 during the park... More

Millions of tulips and a really nice area. Only downside is the tulips are only in bloom from late March to late April. So the window of opportunity to visit is small. Definitely worth spending a day out there.
