good for photographers and art lovers

there is a lot of outside and inside something-to-see. A few cafes and restaurants, shops and design agencies. Quite different from other sites

Shanghai has a list of Top Ten, Top 50 , etc things to do and they are full of tourists, too hard to get too by yourself, or sometimes not even worth the effort. This was a great little discovery. Imagine a football sized undulating park with lush grass and lots of seating, surrounded by weird and wonderful sculptures and... More

One of my favorite place where you can enjoy the open field , where kids are playing around, adults picnic which is not very common in Shanghai. The exhibition hall also had nice artwork on display usually. The location that is just within walking distance from metro line 10- jiaotong university or Hongqiao station make it more accessible. Grab a... More

I'm not sure I'd go out of my way but if you already in the area then the sculpture park is pretty cool to see. There are several art galleries and eating places as well. Mainly it's about the art galleries which seem nice.

Red Town is a hub for art, mostly focussing on sculpture, photography and some painting. Built in a former warehouse, the primary compound has been redesigned to showcase the arts. The area has has number of small galleries and cafe's that offer a lot of to see and opportunities to relax. There's a large outdoor courtyard features dozens of cultures... More

Fun with lots of free venues. What more do you want? Many of the venues have different things going on at different times.

Great compound dedicated to art & creation. Deserves a visit. Above all, the Minsheng Art Museum. The garden offers a nice rest area among art galleries and sculptures.

I expected more from this park, and in the end it all came down to a couple of interesting sculptures and a 15-minute walk through the park. In the park there is also a small museum with sculptures which you can visit. The park was not crowded and there are several cafes where you can drink coffee.

If you want to get away from the crowds and noise of Shanghai and don't want to go to the various gardens and parks with 100s of screaming kids and singing oldies then come here! A very pleasant few hours to spend on a sunny day, with beautiful sculptures outside and inside. There are also several eateries/cafes so you can... More

Staying in Gubei / Hongqiao / Minhang

Neighbourhood Profile
Gubei / Hongqiao / Minhang
West of Shanghai’s better-known business, cultural and entertainment centers, lies an expansive area of residential neighborhoods peppered with lifestyle pockets that have their own unique attractions. The schools have formed pockets of international communities throughout Gubei, Hongqiao and Minhang. Quite a few entertainment and shopping centers have built up over the years to cater to these communities. While living here means you are relatively far away from Shanghai’s usual hot spots, the large parks, spacious homes and proximity to great Japanese and Korean food keep the neighborhoods popular.
