A very good and almost completely free art district , perhaps Shanghais 798. A must for modern art lovers.

Went looking for a bit of art and culture, a nice space but not terribly inviting. Probably need to go with someone who knows their way around.

If you are looking for art, please visit here. There are many street arts and art galleries around there.

It was such a let down. The place is remote n difficult to get to, except by taxi. Getting back was not easy either as u either have to call for a cab or wait for cabs dropping off passengers there. The place was deserted when we visited over the weekend, with few shops open n even those that were... More

I’m not an arts enthusiast but the whole arrays of galleries and exhibitions did offer more than enough to entertain us for a leisurely weekend. I appreciate the variety of the art forms and productions there, and find some of them quite inspiring. Overall, a good alternative to shopping malls or high-teas at fancy hotels in cosmopolitan Shanghai.

You ABSOLUTELY MUST VISIT ISLAND 6--an absolutely amazing art gallery in the M50 Creative Park which has so many stunningly creative works of art mixing media of sound, video, etc. We met with one of the sound artists, Mykel, who showed us around. You will be so entertained. There were a lot of other fun galleries and art shops that... More

Quite hard to get to and quite hard to get back from, the M50 Creative Park really is not worth the effort. Hearing of a vibrant contemporary art scene in Shanghai rivalling that which is reported of Beijing (although even less in evidence there), we made the trek out. There were few studios open and those few (with one exception)... More

A pleasant journey in Shanghai's heart of art. Based in a former industrial complex with multiple low-level buildings all renovated to welcome galleries, ateliers and expositions. Plenty of expositions, some require an entrance fee. An interesting restaurant that looks like a mishmash of different objects you could have found at your grandma's or in an old quaint hotel. You will... More
