It's a really good place for couples: a lot of different restaurants, romantic French atmosphere. There were also many pubs! It was our great decision to spend our evening with good dinner there.

Sorry we had limited time here, stopped in here late in the afternoon when everyone was tired from a full day. Wish we had gone here on the first day when we had more time. Excellent restaurants, shops and hotels in this area if you can afford it.

We visited during midday on Monday and it is a beautiful tree shaded area of upscale boutiques, restaurants local to Shanghai as well as Wolfgang Pucks and Starbucks. There is a very beautiful park located adjacent to the French Concession. We found the area to be a nice break from the hustle and bustle of Shanghai. A nice oasis with... More

I used the self guided walking tour in my guidebook to wander round the Old French Concession. By far my favourite bit was watching the oldies dancing, singing and generally making music in Fuxing Park. I think the area would look more beautiful and take on a different ambiance in the warmer weather when the plane trees have all bloomed.... More

I found little of real interest here, particularly in comparison with with The Bund District. The shops were standard international that you could find anywhere

This place is very interesting with East meets West kind of atmosphere. Bars & Restaurants of different cultures are situated here and choices are a plenty. After a tiring walk around, you could relax in one of these Cafes or indulge in different kind of foods along the stretch of street Restaurants.

This area is full of boutique stores and little cafes. Spend a whole day here wandering around the streets.

This area is especially nice in the morning before it gets busy. I booked Jenny's Shanghai Tours and experienced beautiful architecture and learned about the history of this place on my personalized experience with Jenny's professional tour guide, Apple. Apple provided an unforgettable day-long Shanghai experience and took me to places I would never expect to see on a group... More

Staying in Xintiandi

Neighbourhood Profile
Xintiandi
The refurbishment of a block of old shikumen into a carless entertainment center called Xintiandi, filled with restaurants, shops and bars, turned this area below South Huangpi Road into one of Shanghai’s most fashionable areas. Luxe condos house people who can afford the high-end brands that fill the malls and shops along Madang Road. The pleasant Taipinghu Park provides the area with green space and is also home to Shanghai Fashion Week twice a year. It’s not all glitter and glamour, though, as the rise of Danshui Road has given the Xintiandi area a shot of toned-down character. Small bars and cafes, mostly owned by locals, have people hanging out in a formerly quiet, unassuming part of the neighborhood.
