Natural Environment

The Mobile Botanical Gardens is a modest botanical garden but does offer an attractive and natural environment for a quiet walk "in the woods".

We visited Mobile for just a couple dys.So hoped to see the gardens. Went out of our way to get there to find it closed for a private event mid week. Extremely bummed.

I spent about 45 minutes walking around the gardens. I suppose I would have seen many more flowers in the summer months. I love gardens and it was slightly disappointing.

A huge collection of venerable plants, beautiful huge blooms growing unprotected (not in a greenhouse) makes this a fun winter destination. Labels would be helpful, not just for the Camellias, but in the other specialty areas, such as the fern garden. Staff are enthusiastic and helpful, seek one out if you need identification help.

This place is nestled away from the riff-raff traffic. Here, which is closed on Mon. & Tues., contrary to what AAA books cites. There is a fee $5.00. Once inside you can stroll about into what ever section you so choose. This is a large expanse of property, and a lot to take in, please allow enough time to savor.

Well worth $5 even in winter. They have sections for a large variety and seasons. Even my teenager had a good time. Pet friendly go my dog went too.

Bellingrath Gardens is a lovely place to spend a few hours. It is filled with beauty, various types of gardens in dramatically different settings, and loaded with history. Touring the restored home of the former Coca Cola magnet was also interesting and fun. (A kitchen that was remodeled in the 1940's features some styles just beginning to be trendy again... More

Very nice place to visit especially if the weather is nice and the flowers and plants are growing. Great for taking portraits.
