This building was the administrative center for successive occupying governments. That is pretty much it. What is inside is a wonderful historical and ethnological museum. They are not related. There are a couple of vehicles out front representative of use in their day, an ancient well just across the way. It is just what it is.

This is probably one of the first things you'll visit on your sightseeing tour of Malacca. The Stadthuys is at the Dutch Square and naturally attracts a lot of visitors. You have to pay to go inside, I personally found the Maritime museum on the boat a lot more interesting

Neat to see this UNESCO heritage site but it was dominated by selfie sticks and loud tricycles. Go around the corner and check out the Malaysian Architecture museum, it's quieter, under utilized and good insight to how the architecture all over Malaysia evolved from and has become.

For me The Stadthuys is the main reason I've visited Melaka. It's very well maintained and a very good place for photographing.

This is pretty much the center of all the museums and Melaka's heritage sites. As you will see when you visit here, this is the heart of Melaka's attractions and is almost always full of tourists and locals. Personal tip: Try the fresh water melon here :)
