My husband and I were fortunate enough to live a few miles down the road. We took our dogs for a ride through there every day. Saw some of the neatest birds and animals. Wood storks, bald eagles, Bobcats, alligators and wild boar with babies. Go for a ride!!

We have been several times, in fact we went this weekend. Nature in all it's glory at the refuge. Good trails for walking-nothing fancy-its just the woods. We had a three year old and a 1 1/2 year old walking and it was fine...hot... but good memories were made! And it cost Nothing..

What a delightful surprise to find an auto tour trail through native habitats. We were captivated by the birds, waterfowl (in particular), butterflies, and wildflowers. I wish we had known this was there before we happened upon it. There is a marina store where we bought drinks and a snack. The lady there was kind enough to give us directions... More

This place is a hidden gem. We saw all kinds of wildlife including deer, Alligators, bluebirds and yellow finch. It was great seeing the bobwhite quail. We rarely see them in Florida. We also saw many other colorful songbirds. I recommend parking the car and listening quietly to the beauty of nature. We will be back if we pass through... More

My recommendation for you is to pack lots of water, food, and a great quality set of binoculars. If you're a hiker, brave the overgrown trailhead for the Nature Trail. Then take the Wildlife Drive slowly with the windows open. Stop at the observation towers to look over the landscape, take in the birds and wildflowers. And pause at the... More

My daughter and I were doing a 4 state, 6 NWR tour, and this was by far the favorite. It was not the best time of year to visit there but I hope to go back in the spring or winter. We spent ALL day there up until dark when we had to leave. Saw wild pigs, many deer, several... More

We visited the refuge in late July and the water lilies and American lotus were in full bloom and lovely. Bring binoculars, and bird and plant ID books.

It needs to be mowed impossible to see wildlife. This would have been enjoyable if kept up better. Dont waste your time.
