Ft Gains was an interesting place to relive history and watch ships enter Mobile Bay. Gift shop was well stocked with books and souvenirs with knowledgeable staff. The fort was well preserved with lots of cannon and fort masonry.

Stay off the grass due to stickers but that is the only complaint. Interesting to see and a great way to spend some time and learn a little history.

great history and the cellphone tour is very informative. I know it's an old fort but the outdoor displays are nearly impossible to read, some fences falling down. other than that, I really enjoy visiting this fort. great history

You can use a booklet or your cellphone for self guided tour. The blacksmith demo was great. He is very knowledgeable and we learned a lot. He has a passion for his work and craft.

We actually liked this fort better than Fort Morgan - smaller, but not as much walking & not as many steep stairs to climb & better scenery. They did not have a military discount on admission like Fort Morgan does, though - still not bad...More

Both forts are equally impressive and interesting. I think to properly answer that question would involve what you intend to do after visiting the fort. If you plan to go swimming perhaps, I would say choose Fort Morgan, as... More
