The climax of your Olkhon trip.
Aug 2019
Bumpy roads tearing you to pieces, tough Russian UAZ-Bukhanka cross-country vehicles, three-hours' trip - never mind. It's more than worth it!!! Dazzling panoramas, hypnotizing rocks and Baikal at bird's view will leave you spellbound, numb and bewitched!
Just try to plan your route the way to avoid hoards of tourists. I'd suggest really early morning which means you either do it on your own (but the road is a CHALLENGE) or tailor-make it with the help of a local guide. Otherwise you risk to be elbowed or trampled by trudging human beings.
Please mind that It is a territory of a national park with all respective limitations and prohibitions - do not litter, try not to deviate from designated paths and do not pluck flowers. Human pressure is so intensive there that I'd personally advocate for corresponding quotas - the area is remarkably traipsed. In 2006 there were only 60 thousand Olkhon visitors, in 2016 more than 110 and this year they expect not less than 150,000. Human tornado!
And please note their major deficiency - lack of decent toilets while a stench of those available may make you faint. Shame!

Not worth it
Aug 2018 • Friends
Be ready to straggle in uncomfortable old soviet car for few hours to arrive there. Views are nice but nothing much different from other parts of the island. Probably more interesting in the winter

beautiful
Jul 2017 • Solo
almost every tour car comes here so it gets overcrowded a bit. But the view is one of the best in the whole area, so I still recommend it.

Nice view from boat
Jun 2017 • Couples
From the boat we saw the contours of a woman. Ask the locals for the legend about it. It can get crowded on the top and we heard it's a bumpy and therefore tiring ride.

Beautiful places but crowded
Sep 2016 • Couples
You spend a lot of time in the jeep and end up with plenty of other groups on beautiful but overcrowded spots.Very touristy. We enjoyed much more visiting the island on our own with a mountain bike or hiking.

Cape
Mar 2016 • Friends
One of the capes of the Olkohon island not to be missed. We wisited it on car on frozen lake at winter time. Lovely views, nice caves (floors created by the frozen lakes) and lots of cracking of ice as it forms and expands.

Beautiful views

Great day trip to go an visit this cape. I went with a bus, definitely recommend taking a bus and not biking because it is very far from Khungzir and it is quite bumpy. The way to the Cape is also amazing because the landscape keeps changing. Definitely a worthwhile visit!

Try to come not in the peak season
Jul 2016 • Family
Visiting of this cape was for us really unforgettable. Despite of fact we didn't see any nerpa seals. It needs some 20-30 minutes of walking but not in too difficult terrain. We visited it in early July when the weather was nice and still not so many tourists there. Take good mountain shoes because when raining, it could be bit slippery.

Wonderful and quite! worth camping there
Sep 2015
During my trip around Siberia, I stayed in Olkhon Island 1 week. I camped 2 nights in a row nearby khoboy cape, It was such an amazing, quite place. Great view of the lake and wide opened. worth staying there overnight for stargazing and sunrise ! it is unforgettable. I went trekking and hitchhiking to the cape. However there are tours every morning from Khuzhir village. The go around 10 and come back around 5, they cook a traditional soup called Ukha which is very tasty (Fish, potato, small rice and some other veggies).

great place, but overcrowded
Aug 2015 • Friends
Typically you get to Hoboy Cape by one of the tours, travelling by russian miracle minubus UAZ. The roads are stairy and be sure to keep your head from bumping into the bus ceiling.
Well, anyway, all the tourists reach the Hoboy Cape around the same time and it means the place it very overcrowded.
However, if they offer you soup on this trip be sure to taste it because they make it from fish omul, available only in Baikal.
P.S. Hoboy Cape was even nice from the boat.
