Definitely the most well maintained cemetery in the city. I would initially go just to visit my dads grave but find its a great place to find solitude and reflect. The commonwealth war graves and tombstones are a must visit. Photographs I the defence area are of course prohibited but it's heartbreaking to read the messages on those tombstones. They... More

This cemetery is beautifully maintained and presents a picture of the erstwhile Calcutta, the legacy of WWII and the impact of English rule. A site to remember, and cherish the bravery of soldiers and to get a glimpse into the Commonwealth legacy. A must visit for everyone visiting Kolkata. Do keep 2 things in mind 1. Timings for cemetery 2.... More

Common people have panic to visit any cemetery, but I can ensure this is a place where you never will have that feeling. The place is very neat and clean, just like any nicely maintained park. Local residents visit there regularly. There is a primary school inside the cemetery, so Innocent child also play inside the park. As I know,... More

This well maintained cemetery in Bhowanipore is a historians delight. Many graves date from the British Raj. There are some graves from the World Wars in a separate enclosure . And here wonder of wonders you will find some non Christian graves of the British Army Gurkhas. May they rest in peace. This place is totally transformed on all souls... More

I often go to visit my dads grave there. It's calm and peaceful and especially nice in winter. Bathe commonwealth war graves at the far end provide a historic experience

Set at the rear within the civilian cemetery, visited the Commonwealth War Graves for a Remembrance Service; earlier than normal due to a visit British MP. A moving and sombre affair, but the grounds are very well maintained as expected. Interestingly, the graves include those of the 1st WW, of other nations who fought for the allies and some earlier...
