Situated at such a place easily accessible in the city of Darjeeling. Original equipment used in some very famous mountaineering expedition are here for show. It has many Historical photographs of famous people who are well known in the world of mountaineering. In short very nice and informative museum for mountaineering.

Very good experience. Liked the institute and the museum, very well kept. The museum is unique and gives a first hand descriptions about the great Mountaineers who have scaled Everest and other peaks. Great work.

it is actually a museum as institute is only for students. The museum has a lot of facts about Everest expeditions and clothes worn on the first successful attempt. Thoroughly recommend

It was inside the pn zoological park. Institute have preserved all materials used in the expedition to mt. Everest till date . They have preserved large amount of birds n animals which are original. A must watch HMI

It was a typical feeling which is difficult to share in words, when you will find the very shoes, ice axe, tents, necessary utensils, bottles, rooksacks of Tenzing and Edmund Hillery ....with all these they made the summit of the Everest for the first time .....I became speechless and was trying to feel that very day...one of the historical days... More

If you want to see red panda please visit this place.red pandas are extinct species now so before they extinct you must see them. this museum has a good history of the Everest expeditions and a selection of Sherpa tensing's clothes. What they wore in the early days compared with now makes the early achievements all the more incredible.

This place is witness for lot of history. and they have a museum near this institute. That will give clear view of evolution of Mountaining. Photographs are not allowed inside the meuseum
