2 hr wait time for 20mins avg view experience not worth!!!
Mar 2021 • Friends
Some basic flaws and miss management makes this 25mins experience total worthless.
1st - approach to rope way entry point is poor. Cabs will insist to climb up take steep steps to avoid the congested drive way.
2nd the Wait time was 1.5 hrs with no proper seating space for Sr Citizens.
The low number of car’s makes wait time crazy on a busy day.
The quality and maintenance of the car and boarding place is poor.
The view overall is average but peaceful.
On other side, you have to exit the car and wait in line Again to take another car for return journey. Min 20 mins wait time.
So in summary if you have experienced rope way before then this one is avg and doable only if you have spare free time and money.

It looks like a junkyard, absolute no maintenance and pathetic , most of the cars are not used as it has become junk, remaing cars also are in very bad condition.hardly few cars are there and it takes hours in queue.By mere look any one can make out the condition of this entire system. The company putting the life of tourist in danger.its not safe and worth .

A little wait but worth it
Jan 2020
It is just a 3 km hike from Darjeeling. You may have to wait in line for a bit. But the trip is absolutely worth it. The entire journey presents magnificent views of the mountains and the tea gardens, and we thoroughly enjoyed the trip. thankfully I checked the weather on climacell before I went there, as the ropeway is closed during bad weathers.

Worth the wait
Mar 2020
The queue to get onto the ropeway is at least an hour long usually. However, it is a great experience. It is about 100rs/head/per way. So for a round trip, it'll be 200rs/person. Takes about 20-25min for one way and you will have stunning views of the snow clad mountains ahead of you and awesome Darjeeling tea estates under you. Superb experience

Thrilling experience with nice view
Dec 2019 • Family
This is one of the main attraction in Darjeeling. It brings its travellers fur down to Rangit Valley Tea Estate through a steep gradient of cableway supported on 5-6 towers. To & fro journey takes approx 20 minute each with mandatory disembark at base point, where one can choose to visit the place and have a refreshment or just queued for upward car.

This journey provides excellent view of snow clad mountain range in front during downward journey. Also total greenery with thick conifers and lush green tea gardens at deep beneath provides a nice display of local landscape.

Each cable car can accommodate up to 6 person and it takes about 45 minutes to return each car after completion of one cycle. So, in a busy day during tourists season, interested tourists may have to wait for hours to make the journey.

Entry/ start point of the Ropeway is narrow & clumsy with steeply elevated narrow stairs heading to the place from the nearby main road, which definitely not very convenient for the aged people. As the zoo is situated near to this place, tour may be chalked accordingly so that both the place can be covered in one go. However, be prepared to spare at least half a day to cover both the place, keeping in mind that the service remains open up to 3:30 PM in a normal day (probably varied seasonally). The ticket (to & fro) price is Rs. 200.00 per person seems reasonable and offers value for money in a day with good weather as we got.

One should try not to miss this place during Darjeeling trip.

Must try even if scared of heights
Jan 2020 • Couples
Anybody thinking to let go off this, should think once again because this only seems scary at the beginning when cable starts. But as it begins descending its very calm except when it cross tower we feel vibration. The view from cable is beautiful as we can see Kanchenjunga and nearby tea estates.

Visit with family
Jan 2020 • Family
Went in the morning. There are 2 lines..one for ticketing and the other for boarding. Ride is 20 minutes each way, total 40 minutes. 11 cable cars were operational, each can take maximum 6 persons. It was written on the notice board that the ropeway is under maintenance every month on 19th. Ticket charges are Rs 200 per adult, not sure whether online booking is possible, maybe checked. The queue for boarding was long and time taking, the whole experience took around 75 minutes.

The ride is slow and beautiful, passing over tea gardens and undulating meadows with the majestic Kanchenjungha in the background. Felt so peaceful sitting in the cable car and watching magnificent nature all around.

You have to compulsarily get down at the other end, a few shops are there selling snacks.

Loved the trip, Recommended.
