This was the highlight of our visit to Darjeeling. Being a mountaineering enthusiast, we were very emotionally charged to see the A to Z of mountaineering all in one place. It was great to see the equipments that Tenzing had used his expeditions.

A one of kind place to see everything about Himalayan mountaineering. Very well stocked display of used equipment and write ups about expeditions from early 1800s

HMI is an interesting museum of Mountaineering which preserves and speaks about old mountaineering expeditions especially about Mount Everest Expedition by Sir E Hillary and Tenzing Norgay since early 20th century. This is a must visit place for Mountaineers and Trekkers.

Anyone who is fascinated by the mountains and especially the Himalayas, like yours truly, must visit it. The sheer grit and tenacity of the adventurers in face of danger is creditable. An awe-inspiring insight

A good museum for enthusiasts but lacks proper explanation nor staffs are placed to explanation, you will find difficulty to understand. The display lights of Shivalik peaks are out of order, the challenges of mountaineers remains hidden to public. The museum misses the main objective.
