Great fun but loud and smelly!

I would recommend the two hour loop to Ghoom and back. This is what I did and it was great to experience the train. Any longer could get annoying with the constantly noise and... read more

this toy train runs from darjeeling to ghum and return to darjeeling, it stops for a view from batasia loop and overall it takes 2 hrs to complete the journey In Ghum you can visit the railway musuem just above the station.

We paid 1100/- aproximately for each person (7 people) for the 2 hour ride from darjeeling to ghoom station via batasia loop and back. The darjeeling station is a mess. Dirty. The train was dirty..very perfunctory cleaning. The windows all have coal scraps filled in them. The view from he train is of how dirty we can make nature's gift.... More

I would recommend the two hour loop to Ghoom and back. This is what I did and it was great to experience the train. Any longer could get annoying with the constantly noise and coal smoke! It's fairly expensive for India though - around £15 for the two hour round trip.

As a knows its a heritage train. Special trains are there for tourists, starting from Darjeeling to ghoom and return. Little bit costly but you can enjoy train running on tracks layed on roads.

Took over 8 hours from NJP to Darjeeling. Very interesting but needs patience. Engineering feat of the Himalayan Railways. It's an experience to cross through towns and landscapes as it does. Personnel very polite.

We enjoyed watching the train entering and leaving the station. We had booked the joy ride from Darjeelling to kurseong. The engineering of the train is intersting, however the station is dirty, the view even dirtier, along the entire ride you only pass garbage dumps and litters. Soot from the engine enters the compartment. The ridei s a waste of time... More

We knew Tea grew in Darjeeling but we had no idea the second highest Railway station in the world was here as well. It's fun and a great detour, but take the 9am Train from Ghoom up to Dargeeling, or look for the local trains, the tickets are in the tens of rupees, where as the Tourist Train is a... More

We took a joyride for Darjeeling-ghum- Darjeeling in Diesel engine in march'16. It cost 1100/- per pax and is worthless.Even though if you want to enjoy toy train you can book a second class seat online from Darjeeling to ghum at a cheaper cost of RS. 30/- only
