Darjeeling is famous for four ‘T’s – Tea, Timber, Tourism and Toy Train. Darjeeling Toy Train is one of the most famous narrow (2 feet) gauge trains. It was declared to be a World Heritage Site in 1999. The joy ride in this train is an amazing way to ascent hilly terrains and to see spectacular views of the majestic... More

I do get the fact that's it's an piece of history...but I seriously think that this toy train has passed it's shelf life. Darjeeling has only one main road...and if you have stayed there for 2-3 days you would have seen that road and all the views from there many many times. This train track is also along the road... The train passes through the city traffic for almost half of the route. If you sit near the engine, get ready for heavy noise, steam and pollution

Although I didn't get a chance to ride the train, but yes I indeed got to take a sneak peek of this magnificent heritage at batasia loop. Its a two coaches narrow gauge train hauled by steam engine and more recently diesel locomotives to reduce time. The inside of the train has comfortable seats well cushioned and the coach walls... DHR is the part of the culture of these region. The train windows are not proper create nausea due to smoke. Costs around 1100+tax. I felt as average ride.

Darjeeling is full of natural beauty we all know. Again Toy Train is the most amazing heritage at Darjeeling. It's the only coal engine train live there. The wooooo whistle is just amazing that when it runs, it informs everyone of its proud history. It's equally attractive to all aged personnel travelling to Darjeeling. It takes almost a whole day... Toy train in Darjeeling is one of the eye catching attraction. There're 2 options, diesel and steam engine, you can select 1 of your choice. It provides an excellent view of Kanchenjunga range. One of the must try option in Darjeeling.
