This was our fourth time at Darjeeling Zoo but the first time we'd seen the natural history museum. I suspect it's only recently reopened in its current location. My husband said it reminded him of a zoo he went to when he was a kid and the boy scouts all went on a day trip. One of the kids with... More

Nice museum. Newly built complex. Very informative about the birds and insects. Models of various migratory birds and insects are shown. Must have guide to understand these. Worth visit for a hr. Located inside the zoo.

On exhibition are the flora and fauna of the hills and terrai region. Not much of maintenance as with all government maintained institutions. You will be lucky if your guide brings you here.

This is remarkably very well maintained Natural History Museum. It has every possible species of reptiles, butterflies, snakes, birds and animals all stuffed and well preserved. Very enlightening experience and good knowledge to children. Must Visit.

It was closed when we came here last week. But we had visited it in May last year too. It has a very nice collection of butterflies and insects. Here are lost of dead stuffed animals. Unfortunately, the maintenance is a bit low, and everything is covered in dust.

The museum is a treasure trove with superb collection of insect life among many others. However it is need of urgent maintenance as dust has settled over most specimens. Damage to some are also evident.

We visited this during our trip to Darjeeling in March 2015.Part of the museum was under renovation and we were allowed into one section only without having to buy any tickets. We saw a good collection of stuffed Himalayan animals, birds and insects. There was a huge crocodile on display along with tigers, leopard, bear, wide variety of birds, butterflies, beetles etc.
