Darjeeling - Gangtok

Darjeeling District is the northernmost district of the state of West Bengal in eastern India in the foothills of the Himalayas. The district is famous for its hill stations (often referred to as the Queen of the Hills) and Darjeeling tea. <br>Gangtok is in the eastern Himalayan range, at an elevation of 1,650 m (5,410 ft). The town's population of 100,000 are from different ethnicities such as Bhutia, Lepchas and Indian Gorkhas. Within the higher peaks of the Himalaya and with a year-round mild temperate climate, Gangtok is at the centre of Sikkim's tourism industry.

Mere 10 minutes from Darjeeling city, on the slopes of the Jalapahar hills, you will come across this peaceful abode. The Peace Pagodas designed to provide a focus for people of all races and creeds to help unite them in their search for world peace. Just loved the inner sanctum - such calmness and peace. Very beautiful place!

Very serene and meditative place and environment. This is an oasis in the humdrum of Darjeeling. Go early in the morning for a very quiet experience.

I guess it’s the mass of local tourists who don’t have much idea of the purpose of the monument who ruined the experience. It’s a beautiful structure but was completely annoyed with the selfies, noise and rubbish.
