The Chowrasta or Mall is still a great place to walk around, shop, relax on benches and people watch, enjoy the cafes and restaurants. It used to be the meeting place for friends and still is, although more crowded with street hawkers and stalls, it still has a great ambiance and wonderful views both from the cafes and the roads.... The MALL - so much has been written about this place. It is a simple large flat table - the simplicity is the best part. No vehicular traffic - it is not allowed at any time of the day. It is now a NO SMOKING zone. There are lots of seats all around the Mall to sit, laze, bask in... More

Lots of shops, eateries, great views of the hills, benches to sit and relax, traffic free roads to stroll around and a central stage area where local artists perform ocassionally. This is where we spent most of our idle time while in Darjeeling. Loved the place.

It is a very good Shopping place to visit especially during night time. Along with shopping, one can enjoy the pleasant (chill) climate during the night time. Winter clothing are cheap here. One can buy tea leaves/powder from many shops that are available here.

Sure, we can make our tourist destinations better... merging... More
