A visit to Shimla would be incomplete without setting ones feet at this amazing store house of artifacts of yesteryears preserved so nicely over the years.Located in close proximity to the Doordarshan Kendra,on a hill top, the museum is very nicely kept.Once inside, it is a sheer visual feast for the visitor going around the gallery which houses murals,paintings,coins,utilitities,weapons,manuscripts etc... More

First of all, its not on Mall Road. In front of the Oberoi Cecil hotel, is one road that goes to the Viceregal Lodge. The other, smaller road that goes up to the Doordarshan Kendra, is the one you need to take. There are no signboards. Go right up to the end of that road. You will reach the Himachal... More

This is a nice and awesome meseum of arts and cultural. Inside this a small library is also situated. I spent about an hour to understand the arts.

Too good articles that we haven't even heard off perfect for a days visit, good memories with this place, they do not allow to take pictures.

Large museums that take hours to cover are fine if you live in an area or visit often but I like smallish museums that offer a variety of displays when I'm touring and am time limited in a new place. This museum is well maintained and informative. They well reflect the lives of various communities. I feel the artifacts can be more informative. Good collection

The Himachal state museum was set up to protect and preserve the hill-out and cultural wealth of Himachal Pradesh.The institution is segregated into galleries exhibiting different eras and periods like Prehistoric,Indian Archaeology,Wood Carvings,Arms Gallery,Gandhi Gallery etc.Nice place for a History lover.

Recently visited the museum, the lady at reception was tad rude and they had used some heavy duty chemicals in some of the rooms which was unbearable. But I guess that's a one off, but bear with it as there are lots of ancient artefacts and historical heritage to see. Also an interesting collection of coins from various times, some... More
