As we went in April and was rather choppy, we didn't swim but was well worth the visit as part of a boat tour. The colour of the water was this amazing crystal clear blue and the cave was fascinating. Definitely worth a visit as part of a boat trip.

Nice cave! Is really nice to visit ! You can go by yourself by bus and pay only 14 euro to see it. If not boat tours are more expensive

We went on a sunny October day so we had the cave to ourselves. I can't imagine what it would be like in summer - to be honest I would avoid it then. Also, I would avoid any overcast day. Worth a brief stop as a wider boat trip of the bay, but not worth making a special detour for.

There is a more scientific explanation than that, of course, but that is certainly the effect. If in the area, the blue grotto is not to be missed. A short and delightful boat ride, past islands and inlets then into the rocks and you are surrounded by blue. Those who swam in the grotto looked really blue, but didn't complain... More

As we were staying for a few days we decided to do the day boat trip which included the Blue Grotto. We stopped at one or two places on the way and overall it was a pleasant day, however the blue grotto itself left us very underwhelmed. We were fully expecting it to be touristy but when we got to... We took a boat trip to see the blue grotto and while it was a beautiful cave as the weather was quite overcast on the day with very little sunshine there was no 'blue' in the grotto- it needs the sunlight from outside to make the cave blue, had we known that we'd have taken the tour on a sunnier... We took the speed boat tour from Kotor that included popping in to a Cold War submarine pen and a stop at a small island in the bay. The boat journey was fine and gave a good view of most of the Bay of Kotor. On arrival at the Blue Grotto entrance a number of boats were going in and... More

We went there by boat (from Herceg Novi : 12/15€ - includes Blue Cave, Mamula Island and a stop at a beach nearby). The Blue Cave is quite crowded but our guide took us to another cave (few meters after the first one) where the water is also blue and where we were alone. It is worth the trip.
