Amazing

We had the chance to get the tip from a taxi driver and he was right. For 20 soles each, we enjoyed watching planets and stars with lots of information in French about it. Then we watched a movie who was explaining the nazca lines and it was very interesting and helpful. I would recommand anyone to go before to flight over the lines because that would help you understand. The guide was absolutely nice and with a great French !

Look for the DM Hotel. There is NOTHING visible in the street about the Planetarium
Jan 2020 • Solo
The planetarium is actually INSIDE the grounds of the hotel. And since I’m worse than any guy about asking for directions, I wasted a lot of time looking for it before I finally broke down and asked someone. There are NO signs about it on the street.

The film was interesting and the English narration was fine. The guide’s English sounded like it was memorized word for word from early Google Translate. I would have attended the Spanish version instead, but the English time worked out better for me. French, English and Spanish versions are offered regularly and some other language versions are also available upon request (according to the board at the hotel). I think they included Portuguese, Italian and Japanese but I’m not sure.

I would have liked to have learned more about Maria Reiche’s life, about the theories of how the figures came to be and the development of the area as a tourist site (or maybe those things are covered more in some of the other attractions that I didn’t visit?), but the film did provide some perspectives on the lines I hadn’t come across before. And maybe I’m just a geek, but I enjoy the visuals of a planetarium presentation even if it’s not a high tech one. Not a bad activity at all if you’re looking for something to do in the evening.

Afterwards there are telescopes set up for star and planet gazing. It’s a nice idea, but even when it’s clear (which it wasn’t when I went),it’s not an ideal location since there are some city lights and other obstructions.

Totally unexpected but so great!

We didn't know what to expect when we were told there was a planetarium in Nazca. But we didn't regret that we gave it a try!
The tour is available in French, English and Spanish. First you will watch at the stars and constellations with a telescope, before enjoying a very old school but really nice film explaining the Nazca lines and their link to the stars in the planetarium. Really worth it for the 30 soles it cost us!

Interesting show about the lines
Oct 2018 • Solo
This was a very interesting sure about the origins and significance of the Nazca Lines, with viewings in French, English, and Spanish. If the sky is clear, there is telescope viewing of the night sky as well.

Interesting evening activity before the Nazca flight
Jul 2018 • Couples
This visit is a good introduction to the Nazca lines before the flight. There is also a good explanation of the southern sky and you can see the planets through a telescope.

The Star of The Show...
Aug 2018 • Couples
...Or Show of the Star, if you prefer! We thought that this was simply an explanation of Maria Reiche's work on understanding the Nasca Lines but it proved to be so much more. As well as the presentation in the mini-Planaterio we were also treated to an explanation of the stars in the night sky. Not the first we have been on but nevertheless, really, really interesting! We had a sneak peek at Jupiter and Venus with their moons and ring, respectively. At 20 Soles (US $6). this was excellent value for money. The venue is the DM Hotel (far more fancy than anywhere we've ever stayed!) at the edge of the town centre. The presentation is given in three languages: Francais 6:30pm; English 7:30pm and Espagnol 8:30pm. But I would check the times as we were given two other incorrect times by different sources

Very interesting summary of Maria’s work and theories. Ideal before flying over the figures or if you won’t be flying at all.
