- B O1 contributionExcellent, worth a tripExcellent winery and tour, chose to do the hour long tour with 4 tastings. Excellent guide called Jorge. The restaurant outside was really excellent too and had a typical peruvian horse and dance show, excellent service, food and drinks and great waitress KathyVisited April 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 1 May 2023

Cesar our guide gave a terrific tour and tasting, discussing the impressive history of the winery, how wine and pisco are made, and then having a fun tasting. - Daniel K2 contributionsFun and informative tourReally fun tour in the oldest winery in South America - went on a solo trip in January 2024. It was a small group size with only me and two others on the tour so we had a lot of opportunities to ask questions. Our guide Alessandra was very friendly and sweet and answered all the questions we had. You are shown a short film about the history of the winery then get the chance to see the whole facility, and at the end you get the chance to try some of the wines and piscos they produce. After this you can take lunch there and buy some pisco from the shop.Visited January 2024Travelled soloWritten 27 February 2024

Exploring the oldest winery in South America has been a fascinating experience, especially with Alessandra's isights on the transition from traditional to modern winemaking techniques in Ica. The Spanish colonial architecture adds an extra layer of authenticity to the winery tour.

We had a wonderful tour given by Alessandra. She was very imformative and had a great personality. I love her quote, " when you have a drink of pisco it's like kissing your girlfriend." Lovely young lady.

Very bad experience with the guide Carlos!! We did a tour in English with him. He didn't feel like it at all, told everything very hastily and without any passion or pleasure. I hardly understand him either because of bad speech/english. With the wine tasting we had to down four wines very quickly, we had not finished one yet and he pushed the other wine through again. It was obvious that he wanted to get it over with quickly. It's really a shame that he ruined our experience so much. Such a pity, because the estate itself is beautiful.

Hi we booked it through Trip advisor, when we got there there were quite a lot of people just booking the tour there on the day . It was well organised and nice place to sit with a glass of fizz or whatever if you have to wait a little while.
Good luck

I will be in Lima and would love to make the drive to visit Tacama. Can spend a full day tasting wines at five or more other wineries in the area also? Is there a flight to and from Lima that can save time?

I did the Tacama winery as part of a guided tour to Nazca and Ica. I would say with the tour, lunch, and some drinking; you'd get about 2-3 hours at the location. I'm not sure about any of the area wineries in the area, but I doubt a flight in is a viable option. The best bet would be to hire a guide and let them drive you as they are tricky to get in and out of the location.
I did Nazca, Tacama, and made my flight back to the US in Lima all in the same day, but I had a 2 am flight out.

Santiago Queirolo
I hear you can take a taxi from Ica to tacama, but are there buses/taxis/uber going back to Ica or huacachina area?
