I took the walk starting from El Zopilote. I must admit that I was not that prepared and physically it required a lot of effort but in the end I really enjoyed, it was great exercise and the views were beautiful. I really recommend it but 1) bring lots of water 2) bring food 3) something sweet 4) get some... More

This hike is by far the roughest and toughest hike I've ever done! It was on my list of things to do and I'm still glad I did this hike, but would never do it again. The hike took 8 hours+ and after you get to the viewpoint, is mainly straight uphill in the jungle. What I didn't realize is... More

Wear hiking boots or sneakers, this climb is long and muddy. It's a tough climb so be prepared. Takes at least 4 hours to get up. Bring lots of water. Beautiful views from the top and a crater lake for swimming if you choose.

My friend and I hiked Maderas with a guide from Finca Por Venir and down Finca Magdalena. It was intense. We are both very fit runners and this ranks very high in the physically challenging adventures we have done... Its very steep, muddy is an understatement, and wet. It took us 3 hours and 45 minutes up, rest 45 minutes... More

This is a fairly long hike for a smallish volcano. Took us 8 hours round trip including our lunch stop at the lake, and a walk down to a creek to wash our clothing post-hike. The lake was completely fogged in and there was a cold wind at its edge. The hike through the jungle up small rivers and over... More

Hard ride over rough terrain through forest, hard saddles and lots of chopping to open up the trail by our Spanish speaking guide - worth the 4 hr round trip for the view. If you have never ridden before, wouldn't recommend. The horses know the way and require little steering which is a plus. Most accommodation can arrange this for... More

Visiting this place was such an experience. You have to be prepared to walk for over 8 hours, but the place worth it. Ometepe is a little paradise in Nicaragua. It is not very touristic, but the landscape and the wild life is really beautiful!

We hiked to the falls and it was beautiful and totally worth the time. We did get trapped on the Island (sounds like it is not uncommon) which was a bit of a pickle but in the end we had a good time and are glad we went.

Hiked to the look put which took 3 hours. The last hour was a decent climb, not sure I could have climbed the whole mountain. The view was breathtaking- definitely worth it!

Okay, this was not on MY bucket list, but apparently it was for someone else I was with, so there I was, sweating, huffing, puffing all the way up! I'm thinking "are we there yet?" and "I'm too old for this" (40y) and then we get passed by a group and they don't even look winded! People of all ages... More
