Privately owned park with a small butterfly garden and a great view of the 2 volcanos. The walk itself is easy to do, takes about 1-1.5 hours depending on how many picture stops along the way. Howler monkeys, local birds ( including a turkey vultures!) can be seen.

This resort was right on the beach. It was a nice day out but expensive and somewhat overrated. The food was expensive and you had little choice as there was no access to alternative restaurants. If you like Kayaking and relaxing on deck chairs its a nice place to go

We toured with a private guide as part of a much larger itinerary. The first stop is a butterfly reserve which is really lovely to walk around. You then move on to a loop around the lagoon, which is not strenuous and was a pleasant walk, with a small private sandy beach half way around with a great view of... More

This nature preserve is a really nice place to spend an afternoon. First you pay $5 to get in. Then you can spend as much time as you want in the butterfly garden, apiary, and bird aviary. then you walk out to the trails in the preserve. there are multiple trails that wind you around the lagoon of Charco Verde.... The visits starts with a small butterfly conservatory. There are several species flying around. We then took the path that goes around the laguna and the one that goes to a mirador. We saw a howling monkey relaxing in a tree and a flock of blue parrots. It is a nice walk (not a hike) that leads to a small... More

We took the bus here and back (11 córdoba each way per person). Entrance cost five USD, including the butterfly garden. I enjoyed the butterfly garden and the hikes around the Laguna. We went swimming on the beach of the lake (can't swim in the Laguna). Saw howler monkeys while hiking, and even more waiting for the bus back to... More

Nice spot with a stunning floral garden and mariposaria. Behind the mariposaria are easy nature walk paths through giant ceiba trees and lots of birds. The small laguna has a lovely wetland margin with shorebirds.

One of the more naturey things to do on Ometepe. Lots of different butterflies in the exhibit and only one hummingbird from what I saw. Lots of paths to wander around on with a nice little beach, marsh, lookout point. Budget travellers could probably get by without it but if you like big clean trails without many bugs you can... We have been very surpised. They realy did a great job to prepare a very lovely place. Especially the Butterfly House we enjoyed very much. We have been there in the morning and we were allone and could cam in all observe a diversity of beautyfull butterflies, flowers, birdys and turtels. Around the Laguna we found lovingly prepared footpath for... More
