RDC is first and foremost an environmental education centre managed by the Sabah Forestry Department. It has been operating since 1997 but mainly for school visits and organising events for school students and also teacher training courses on environmental education. It was later developed for visitors mainly to sustain the environmental education programme for the future.

We formally opened to visitors in August 2007 and is open daily from 8 am to 5 pm. However, visitors are allowed to stay until 7 pm for viewing of the flying squirrels at the 347-m long Canopy Walkway, the only such structure in Southeast Asia. The newly revamped Birders Rest is now with a 90 m-long walkway, an open hall, a small centre and toilets.

As of Nov 16th 2013, we have a new operator for the Keruing Cafe whom we hope will provide better services for our visitors.

We walked here from Sepilok Nature Resort and so glad we did. It was 15MYR each and we spent over 3 hours exploring the canopy walk and trails. For the price it was so worth it, and thoroughly enjoyed walking around. Remember to take water. Our highlight was an orangutan and her baby setting up a nest which we could... More

This was our second visit to Sepilok itself. The first trip 12 years ago did not include a visit to this fantastic facility. We love to walk so didn't mind the jungle trails, the canopy walk way and climbing the stairs up the viewing towers. We visited during April of this year 2017 while we waited for our accommodation, which... More

We had a nice time walking up and down the stairs for a view of the canopy from top. For people not used to climbing in the hot sun, this place may prove challenging. But the view is worth the trouble.

We had planned to make multiple trips to the RDC for birding and mammaling. Unfortunately, mother nature got involved and sent torrential rain on multiple occasions so we really didn't get to experience the potential of the RDC. The canopy walkway is really nice as are the rest of the facilities. They also have lots of trails to explore. While... More

Interesting to walk at the height of the cloud forest, to give you a good idea why it is really like, but we didn't get lucky enough to see any large birds or large animals. Maybe it is because it was very very hot? I believe if you go early morning or at sunset, you see more activity though.

Nice park to walk around with a treetop walk and two viewing stations. Plenty of flowers and butterflies.

well setup, great treetop platforms. We went at 8am and it was way too late to see any birds. Make sure you go at sunrise.

We visited early morning with our guide who explained all about the plants and trees in the garden. The walkways through the canopy and the towers provide good views over the forest. The walkways are solid which, if like my husband you are not fond of heights, provide a little security. He actually enjoyed it, unlike when we were in... More

The walkway is great for seeing things from the height.I prefer many tracks that challange me what I will see. Good place for birder but a bit annoyed when some people are using sound too much to attract birds.
