This UNESCO site is pretty high up with nice mountain views at a distance. It is also close to Syria. It is quite a big area so needed around an hour or more here. This city is founded in the 8th century. Some of the ruins are still pretty well preserved. Have to come earlier to beat the crowd. …

The reason for my visit to Lebanon was to visit ruins and you cannot ignore these, right next to the Syrian border. This ancient city is reasonably well preserved and the visit is very pleasant for an hour or two.

It is not Baalbeck but it is absolutely charming place to visit. It is not an accident that Anjar is at the Unesco list. I would recommend securing around 1,5h for a walk around the ruins. It is worth taking a guide as you may learn a lot about the history of the place. In the winter season it is quite windy so wrap yourself up.…

if you get a chance to visit do so. we went in January so were suplied with plastic bags to cover shoes - however very cold this time of year so wrap up.
