Lake Nakuru is Kenya's most visited National Park. Located 160km and 2 1/2 hours from Nairobi, the park is an important Ramsar site and home to thousands of different bird species.

The 188sq km Lake Nakuru is the only KWS-administered reserve that is fully enclosed. Once just a bird sanctuary, Lake Nakuru is now the best place in Kenya to see the highly protected black and white rhino. Among other animals found in the park include rhino, lion, leopard, flamingos, Egyptian geese, waterbuck, giraffe, hyena, buffalo, baboons, vervet monkeys, gazelles.

During my brief stay in Kenya, I did some last minute research to find a day trip that would involve some significant time on foot in a national park. Smile to Africa Adventure came up in my searches as providing an outing to Mt. Longonot, an easy 2 hour trip from Nairobi. They quoted a lower cost for the same... More

The actual park was nice and we saw animals, definitely worth going. BUT go with someone else!!! Frederic who we talked to to book the day trip from Nairobi sounded nice. His driver picked us up from our hotel in the morning as agreed. But over 30 min late. The car was nothing like the safari cars in their pictures,... More

I had a very limited time in Nairobi and after reading Tripadvisor reviews, I decided to take a one day to Nakuru day. First of all, the prices show great differences so, be ready for a hard negotiation. But unfortunately there is no standard - so you can never know that you are paying the right price. My travel agent... More

Visited Lake Nakuru expecting to see Rhinos and plenty of Birds but was disappointed especially after visiting Masai Mara. Couldn't spot a single Rhino. Flemingos were in some number but not as many as the websites claim. Did see a Rothchild Giraffe. Plenty of Wild Buffallos, Zebras and Impalas. Not recommended especially after a visit to Masai Mara

A very beatiful small national park !! 188 sq km. Over 400 bird species available. A fantastic day out ,, only missed the Elephant. otherwise the big four found. The swamp is getting bigger due l think to climatic changes. Too many many Africican buffaloes. The Authourities are planning to relocate them to other conservation areas in the country.

The park cannot be considered large but the collection of animals is. We could spot lionesses (3 of them), giraffes, various types of antelopes, zebras, buffalos (hundreds of them), jackals etc etc even as late as 1000 hrs. I even had a very interesting experience of spotting a lioness atop a tree, a rare sight in general (One expects leopards... More

Stayed at Mbwea camp for 3 nights and it was a lovely place,a night game drive arranged by the camp manager was my most interesting moment of the time as we had room to see small rodents hopping on two legs like kangaroos. My words are not enough to describe this but in short,it a place worthy visiting
