We hired a driver for a day and visited different places in Bintan and the one that interest me most is the Banyan Tree Temple. It's surprisingly unbelievable to see how a tree can grow around and a concrete house as if it has become...More

The site is located on the south side of the island, about 1 hour taxi ride from the resort area. It is just a small house/temple with Banyan tree roots covering a good part of the structure. If you have seen the sights in Angkor...More

I am kinda surprised to learn about this centurion Banyan Tree Temple in Seranggang, Bintan Island. It's a stunning site considering Indonesia is a Muslim country - the power of religion! To co-exist in peace and harmony in a multi-religious / multi-racial society 👍

This relatively small temple has been completely overgrown by a banyan tree and would be easy to drive past if you didn't know what you were looking for. Fortunately it was part of our day tour of the island so our driver took us directly...More

Centuries old banyan tree. Stood solidly through the passing of time. I can feel the serenity around the trees. Teach us to be strong in life no matter what challenges we faced. I am so glad to visit in person.

The Banyan Tree Temple sounds great on paper, but in real, is a very small structure, not really made just within Banyan trees. The tiny little garden behind the temple is pretty and quaint, with a bit of an Alice in Wonderland feel. If you're...More

Pros: 1. Just an old tree with over 200 hundreds years and the temple right inside of it 2. Can see the small stalls next to it if you like to take local village photos Cons: 1. Nothing much to see on this temple

Nice temple build under a Banyan tree in Senggarang island. Senggarang island is easily accessible from Tanjung Pinang in a small boat

Why would you want to do simple cooking? There is an outdoor open air pavilliion. The temple is small and deserted. I am only ther to admire the centuries banyan tree.

NO. there is another bigger temple and you can probably find it there. It is where I got off from my boat.
