Over crowded, over commercialization and utterly underwhelming. Compete waste. Had better experience in Andaman Islands.

My best advice is get up early and get a speed boat trip here. I used a company called EZY Trails.
Access to the island is through a newly constructed landing stage around the back of the island, after coming ashore it's a 5 min walk through the island to 'The Beach'.
Time ashore is limited to an hour (by the national park) which is more than enough time to walk up and down the beach and take in the view.
In order to prevent further damage to the reef boats are forbidden from coming into the bay, as is swimming, although paddling is allowed.

Beautiful island but it's packed with tourists! Not much space at all. Almost claustrophobic at times. Prices to go and come and to buy snacks at the island are very high.

I travelled here as a family and absolutely loved it. I was with a tour company and they were brilliant. The island itself is magnificent and I would highly recommend. Had food and drinks by the beach, walked around, explored. Met some amazing people and had a general great time. Would def love to go again!

Thailand must do. Beautiful place, heaps of beaches to visit and stuff to do.
Lovely centre. I recommend staying between 3 days and one week. Unless you want to spend your time just chilling at the beach, in that scenario you can stay here a lifetime!

Do yourself a favor and just do a day trip from Phuket. Don’t stay on the islands. It’s pretty down the boat. Trashy Florida city vibe off the boat. The locals are a mix, some regular nice Thai people, some sketchy rude people. Food is very meh. Accommodations meh. Pay ridiculously overpriced amounts compared to mainland Thailand or Phuket.

It was a nice trip with some kind of scam too...
We were THE FIRST who arrived at Maya Bay and had the most peaceful 1 hour there. It's prohibited to swim there, due to the replanting of the corals.
Pi Leh Lagoon was another outstanding place there.
But Viking Cave simply shouldn't be on the list of the attractions, nothing special there, you cannot even go inside, because it's private property.
Instead of "Monkey Beach" our guide brought us to "Monkey Bay".....
If you are going to buy a tour to Phi Phi and don't understand which places you should visit and what is better to avoid or maybe need some recommendations on which boat to choose, at what time to go, and what to take with you, then our video might be helpful for you.
Easily to find it by the title on YouTube:
"You better learn THIS before going to Phi Phi Island Tour"
Hope it helps. We also took some drone shots, just look at this beautiful nature.

I went on a half day boat trip with friends where we visited the Viking cave, the lagoon, and a few other parts of the island. We went snorkeling and swam in the lagoon. We were the only boat there & had the whole lagoon to ourselves, which was amazing and surreal. This boat trip is a must for anyone exploring Koh Phi Phi.

We tried 2 accommodations, both had problems with the water, shower heater, internet, noise. We tried a couple of restaurant, almost double price than Bangkok for the same food. It is crowdy, expensive and not well organised. You have to pay also 10X the price that the local pay for a fake national park. Nobody knows where the money goes and the dive centers have to clean the beaches by themselves. The beach is polluted on one side, it is very obvious.

Depends where you come from. From Phuket only speedboat is recommended. From Ko Phi Phi just book a longtail for your group!

I think it could be The Princess and Charlie's, but I would not stay there every again. We were there Feb 2019. Was awful. The pool staff was great, but that's about it. Go to Google maps they show all the resorts along the beach.
Is it easy to find a boat in Phi Phi Don to visit Maya Beach?
TravElkouteini
Baltimore, MD1,495 contributions
As fas as I know it is possible. From Phi Phi Don you can rent a longtail for 1,000 baht (US$ 32) for three hours or for 2,000 baht (US$ 64) for a full day, max four people. Speedboats are 3,500 baht (US$ 110) for half day or 6,000 baht (US$ 190) for a full day, maximum six people.
You may find there other people who are interested in sharing with you the cost also please note that these prices may slightly increase

I have four nights spare on my plan and I was considering booking accommodation in Railay. Is it possible to visit Koh Phi Phi Le (Maya Bay) from Railay or am I best staying on Koh Phi Phi Don?
Thanks
